In our videoconference we decided that additional information would be helpful.I have extracted additional information from the World 35+ Championships.  An issue that was of interest was if in any age bracket, there was a drop off in participation as the skiers go to the end of teh age bracket;
Here is what I found from the last three Worlds (only ones with 65+)

 we were only considering slalom.  From this data it would seem that there is a drop off, but not significant until the 55+ division and higher.

A second aspect I considered was were the medals spread across the ages in each division or did the medals go to the younger skiers in the bracket.
Here is a presentation of the medals by age considering the 1st 5 years against the 2nd 5 years

A summary of this chart is that 43 medals went to skiers in the 1st 5 years and 11 went to skiers in the last 5 years.

This would seem to give weight to the idea that a 5 year bracket would provide more opportunity and perhaps draw more skiers to the event.  The main issue is do the numbers justify it.
In my opinion, only slalom is a possibility as the numbers are absolutely too low in tricks and jump.

I guess I would like to hear comments and also if there is another statistic that would help that can be derived  from tournament or ranking data, please let know.
