They are requesting rule changes that provide the ability to nominate the best judges for World Championships without necessarily regional or confederational parity.

There was also talk of a fee due to IWWF for every L and R tournament but that is still under discussion.

The EB is promoting the further development of judge testing and evaluation.

Corey Vaughn comments: Did the issue of cost come up regarding these changes to L & R tournaments. One of the biggest hurdles we face as a sport is that we are pricing many people out. The boats are too expensive and for many people tournaments are too expensive.  

I think if the IWWF wants to improve its branding by having a presence (banners and logos) at record tournaments, that is a good thing. However, I think in this case the IWWF needs to cover that branding cost without passing a fee on to the host club. It is hard enough for many places to organize an L or R event. Adding a fee will only make it more difficult and add extra cost to the entry fees.  In the interest of growing the sport, I would like to see the IWWF find ways to make tournaments more accessible to a broader range of people. These suggestions sound like they will penalize those who are deeply committed to the sport at a high level, and perhaps those on their way to a high level. 

I think the use of a scoring program that makes results easy to view is a wonderful idea. Again I would like to see the IWWF support the implementation of such a policy by making it as easy as possible for everyone to use this program.

I also think the rule about finding the most qualified judges for World Championships is a good one. I will be interested to hear more about the evaluation and selection process.

Hanifah Yoong Yin Fah comments: While I respect that Florida is God\'s given gift to Waterski where skiers can ski almost every week in R or L event to up their rankings for pro events like US Masters, Moomba and the likes, for Asia we had a most gloomy and dismal record of R & L events past immediate following years: 
2016: Only 2 events R or L (Asian Championship in Korea & AO in New Zealand)
2017: Only 2 events R or L (Pre-SEA Games & SEA Games in Malaysia) 
2018: Only 1 event R (SEA Friendship in Indonesia) 
2019: Only 1 event is known so far (Open Worlds in Malaysia) 
All the years before 2016 we had maximum 3 events R or L which Asian skiers can take part in and most years only 1 and some years ZERO event. 
Both IWWF (world) and IWWF Asia need to also address this sad state of affairs in Asia since we have no Asian or AO championships in 2017 and 2018. 
Asia also has this sad state affecting one skier who could have qualified for US Masters Junior Girls jump in addition to tricks might have to lose out due to limited events she can compete to qualify due to school and funding.

Bob Corson comments: A clarification for Corey regarding branding.  The requested branding is not additional stand alone branding, but branding added in to already existing print and digital media which would already be planned for production, ie. results, running order, website, social media pages, live streaming or TV broadcast (if any), media/prize presentation backdrop, bibs,  etc.  This really should not impose extra cost on the organizer.

Corey Vaughn comments: Bob, I see your point. I agree that in this scenario there would not be a great extra cost associated. I guess one point that arises, however, is that other sponsors have likely bid and paid a pretty penny to secure their spot on bibs, social media posts, press releases, banners, etc.  How do we envision the IWWF logo fitting in with sponsors who are putting up money to secure their place? I think the paying sponsors deserve the most visibility. That is unless the IWWF is proactively doing something to promote the event, attract spectators, bring in revenue, etc - which I would LOVE to see.  With most L&R tournaments, however, I don\'t think this is the case. Maybe the IWWF can do more to support L&R tournaments to support concerns like Hanifah\'s? I am a firm believer that the governing bodies (national and international) could be much more proactive and supportive of events. Should we think of ways that we (the IWWF) can support events, rather than ways events can market for the IWWF?
