Here is the issue

The IWWF President has asked us to grant 2 Wild Card entries to the organizers in Spain.
This should not be an issue as we are giving 5 for the Open Championships and this program is achieving its goals for promotion.  The only issue here is that it is less than 60 days until the tournament so that a rule change needs a unanimous vote.

Bob Corson comments: To address Bruce\'s comment 4.07 it says:
 In addition, the Federation organizing the World
Championships shall be entitled to a team of six competitors, whether qualified or not and an
additional 5 single event wild cards. 

The question is the applicability of this to other championships

In the Juniors  it says:
IWWF Junior Division World Championships
The technical rules shall be identical to those in the most current IWWF Technical Rules with the
exception of the modifications stated below:

and below it states
4.07 Each Federation shall be entitled to enter two skiers whether qualified or not. Such a skier
who is not qualified may only compete in two events. In addition, the Federation organizing
the World Junior Championships shall be entitled to enter six skiers, whether qualified or not.

As 4.07 is specifically noted as replaced by the added paragarph then currently no wild cards are noted for Juniors


For U21, 4.07 is not specifically mentioned so that would imply 5 wild cards are allowed there.  However it does say:
1. Skiers who may participate (2016)
a) Each Federation may send up to six skiers. Of these six skiers, a maximum of four of either sex
is allowed.
Skiers not selected for their national teams may qualify to compete in the Under-21 World
Championships per the Placement Eligibility Chart (Diagram 10) or by placing in the top 3 in
slalom, trick, jump, or overall in the most recently held World Junior Championships.

So, it is currently unclear on the applicability of wild cards to U21.

For 35+ it shows the following under 4.02
Federations not having skiers who have achieved any of these minima shall, nevertheless, have the
right to enter one skier Man or Woman in each age category. This means a maximum of 4 skiers, 1
in each age category. These skiers may be entered in any or all of the events.
In addition, the Federation organizing the Championships shall be entitled to a team of eight
competitors whether qualified or not. These skiers must conform to the limits mentioned in the first
paragraph of Rule 4.01 above

However, it does not specifically address 4.07.  In the past we did specifically vote to allow 5 wild cards for Mexico upon their request.

It seems that we should have a general policy for all World Championships once we finish with this specific issue.
