I want to get a vote on whether we will require sanction for R or L&R.
I did some research.  Here is the breakdown of R tournaments since 10/31/12:
All R  - 122
Pan Am - 103 (USA-91)
EA - 17
AA - 2
All tournaments - 385
Pan Am - 189   (USA - 142)
EA - 135
AA - 61

In this period there were 385 tournaments qualified for the ranking list.  In the US, most of the R tournaments also had divisions run as L.  A concern is that given the extra burden of administrative sanctioning, many will opt for straight L. Admittedly, that is pure speculation.
What is the issue we are addressing?  It seemed that the conversation was about tournaments being held without much notice and availability.  If we only require R sanctioning, I do not think this will address the issue because the perceived problem is skiers getting high ranking list scores, not just records since only a few records are achieved involving just a few skiers.
However, sanctioning almost 400 tournaments is going to take some administration as there will inevitably be latecomers or those who miss completely.
As you have seen, I created a sanctioning mechanism.  Tournaments in Australia have already signed in with no specific published mandate (which will come with the minutes).

Gill Hill comments: In the meeting we only discussed Record tournaments.  In the LONGER TERM I am not against including L events, BUT i dont think we are ready for that yet.   In E&A we REQUIRE all L tournaments to be registered on line on the E&A Tournament Council site, so we are already doing the notification bit!   BUT for them to also have to insert the judges panel is a step too far at the moment.  That is FINE for Record Tournaments as there are not so many.   So for the moment I have to vote NO to stay with what we agreed in our meeting.

Bob Corson comments: Well, if E&A is already listing and notifying and AWSA is already listing, etc.
then where is the concern that nobody knows what tournaments are being held?  If people do not look at the E&A list or the AWSA list, why would they look at the IWWF list?  Again, what problem are we solving?

So, are we redundantly listing tournaments?  Is this mostly for the tournaments being held where the National Federation/Region is not providing a a central listing?  What is the problem we are trying to solve?
