Here is the issue


I was asked how are officials' qualifications checked.
In the US, we all have wallet cards that show our AWSA membership and Judge level.  If a non US official volunteers to help out at a tournament, there is no direct way of knowing their qualification except accepting their statement of qualification.
The concern is that if that person asserted they were a 1st class judge and actually they were a 2nd class judge, it would potentially jeopardize a record application.
The question is does something need to be done?
I think trying to keep a centralized list would be very timeconsuming and error prone.
I am not sure strictly requiring Federations (or regions) to distribute judge qualifications is fully practical.
We could deal with this on a case by case basis.  For instance if the person thought his level was one thing but in fact it was another, could that be overlooked as an "honest mistake" for a record?
My point here is to start a discussion.  The answer may be that what is happening now is fine and no action need be taken.

Hanifah Yoong Yin Fah comments: IWWF Asia has started issuing cards for qualified official with a view to have this compulsory from 1st Jan 2016. Whether this policy can be fully implemented or not it is left to be seen. In summary I do agree that IWWF judges if qualified should have the licences in the form of wallet cards.

Murray Eade comments: I ask if this is necessary also. Are there problems. I have been asked several times if a NZ judge is qualified and to what level before they judge a tournament in the US. A card would be good but is a big maintenance job for someone.

Candido Moz comments: In E&A, the Office is delivering card to all Officials, based on theyr qualification.
We can in any moment send this list of Officials with the relative qualification if needed. They are also included in the Lion Scoring software, and update every Year.

Felix Loreto comments: Pan Am regi?n has a list for qualified officials. 
Such list includes slalom, jump, tricks, 3 event, homologator.

Dimos Alexopoulos comments: Just to add some more info to Candidios comment. E&A issues cards and keeps track of all status changes for E&A Judges, Senior judges (3 event), Senior Judges (2 events, sl & ju), Int. Homologators, Int. Calculators and Int. Drivers, since at least 1994.

Peter Person comments: I\'m not aware of any special problems here. As other have noted, there are ways this is documented in various place. I also don\'t think we as IWWF have the capacity to take on the administration of this at this level.
