Here is the issue

Maximum number of men?    

Should a team not have at least one woman inside.  

I believe this was in reference to the 35+ Championships.
It could however, apply to all championships.

Larry Gisler comments: I don\'t thing that is necessary introduce in the rules , that a woman  need be om a team, because always is at list one spot free for that.
And an other point is that in some region the woman use to stop do some competition sport earlier.

Hanifah Yoong Yin Fah comments: i am not sure but having at least one woman in a team does give our sport a better image. the at least one woman in a team rule can always be exempted for when a team has only one member. i vote yes.

Gill Hill comments: This definitely was in relation to the 35+ championships.  I was a little surprised to find a country could field a full team of 8 skiers with NO women.  The idea was to mandate that the maximum number of any one sex in a full team would be 7.  This is the same rule as we already have at the Open Worlds.    A full team must feature both sexes.   For me this is the correct way to go.

Felix Loreto comments: Rule says team can be 4 where no more than 3 from one gender. Don?t see why forcing having at least one female or for that one male. We could risk less countries participating.

Jeffry Armstrong comments: We should be consistent, but also the IOC is asking that we have 20% women even in our committees and Boards and they equate this to the athletes also.
We should definitely have a minimum of one.

Bob Corson comments: I think Jeffry makes an interesting point.  One of the stories of the recent Olympics was that of women competitors from Arabic countries that have not traditionally sent women athletes.  The IOC encouraged (I do not know if they mandated) female participation which resulted in more sport opportunities than before for women in these countries.  We could say that a team must be at a minimum 1 man and 1 woman.  At the last World Championships, the following countries sent male only teams: ARG, CZE, DEN, DOM, GER, IND, IRE, LTU, SUI.
Some of these countries have had female competitors in the past, it just may be that at Dubna there were none through injury or attrition.  I think the idea merits discussion.

I am NOT in favour of insisting that any one sex cannot enter unless there is one of each sex.  
I think that is a very risky way to go - for example Genadi from Georgia who won at the 35+ is the sole Georgian we can find, I suspect!
The mandate I would prefer, and we use it already at Open and Junior level, is that a FULL team of 6 (or 4 or 8) skiers MUST have both sexes as part of that team.  Whether we mandate this to 1 or 2 is a harder issue, but for me we need to have both sexes present in a full team.

Brian Woolley comments: I agree with the sentiment of Gill\'s first comment.
Similar to other teams, a rule requiring a full O35 team to have at least one (or two) of each gender would be a good idea. It is probably just correcting an oversight.

Dimos Alexopoulos comments: I agree with Gill\'s and Brian\'s last comment about having at least one skier of the opposite sex in a full team. We cannot generalise this rule for teams with 1 or 2 skiers (example the team of Georgia)

Does this mean they cannot participate as a team and only participate as individuals? Or does this mean that for adding team points there must be both genders?

Felipe Leal comments: I think if a country wants to participate for the team competition, must have at least one athlete from the other gender. This might increase the participation of female athletes in each country in order to compete for the team title.
If there\'s not enough athletes to have a full team, then that country can\'t compete for the team title and all the skiers might participate as individual.

Ageliki Andriopoulou comments: As Gill said this discussion refers to +35 Worlds only where right now we dont have a maximum number for each gender (as Gill said right now we have full teams of only men) I think we shouldn\'t say at least one woman but we should say maximum of 7 from either gender. So a country cant have a full team of only one gender (like we do in all other worlds). I also think we shouldnt go down the streat of at least one of each gender to compete because skiers like Genadi would be penalized and because I think we will exclude a few countries from our Worlds and that would not look good for our sport.
I wouldnt aply this to all Worlds because I think the rules we have in place work well (in a team of 6, 4 max from one gender for open worlds, right?)
