HOMOLOGATOR'S REMARKS SpashEye for jump, SpashTrick for trick timing, and SplashGates for slalom gate review were all used throughout the tournament. With one exception, the software operated well, but some operator errors caused tournament delays. See details below. Day 1: Issues with video signals to one of the slalom towers caused a couple of tournament delays, a 10-minute delay was caused by a bad cable connector when relocating a wireless transmitter (to provide better clear line of sight) and a 20-minute delay was caused by a tripped circuit breaker. A boat malfunction (overheating) caused a 26-minute delay to troubleshoot and eventually replace the boat with another like model. SplashGates was used for viewing the slalom gates. Operator error caused the need to retrieve the gates from the DVR a couple of times. A camera somehow turned off and on during a pass cause the loss of a pass and the need for a reride. Day 2: Slalom executed smoothly. The jump ramp came loose of one of its moorings, causing a 30-minute delay. The ramp was re-moored and reset to the visual markings (hex marker on shore and a ramp buoy marker). No national records were anticipated to be set and this fact contributed to a decision that the ramp center did not need to be re-surveyed with the caveat that if a record was bettered, then the ramp would be resurveyed and the jump would be remeasured. SplashEye was used for jump with a second monitor. One time SplashEye recognized the skier hitting the ramp but failed to regognize the landing, causing a replay from the DVR. Power issues with cuased one delay. It appeared the scorer/judge tower (separate from other facilities on site) was low on voltage, causing the UPS to kick in and some of the devices to turn off. After a couple of instances of this, procedures were established to get the equipment back with no tournament delays. A couple of operator errors of manually initiating SplashEye recognition when the skier did not trip ramp sensor caused the need to re-cable SplashEye for replay from the DVR. The first occurrence caused a delay of about 5 minutes until the crew learned how to re-cable. A [different] circuit breaker tripped and caused about a 15-minute delay in jump. Day 3: The ENTER key on the laptop running SplashGate malfunctioned twice successfully, causing the need for replay from the DVR. A 12-minute delay resulted because a knowledgable DVR was not present when the malfunction occurred. Otherwise, all went smoothly.
